Temporary Forum Installed

I have no clue when the forum will be restored. I keep getting told two different stories. "It\s all restored! Should be up soon!" Then nothing happens for two weeks. So we'll be switching companies soon. But until then, a temporary one is setup at http://ffradio.sytes.net/phpBB2 thanks to Laban.

Don't worry about posting there, everything will be transfered over to the permanent home. This all really sucks, but let's make the best of it! Now get back to posting!

Forum Update

Good news. The database harddrives are expected to be returned tomorrow (Apr14) with their data restored!

Cross your fingers that everything will be there 'cause as it turns out, the last good backup of our forum was in October! :O

Hopefully the forum will be back up and running sometime on the weekend. =]

Forum Down

Found out yesterday (Apr8) that the reason for the forum downtime was because the MySQL server (which also hosts a tonne of other databases -- several Terabytes worth) got hacked and wiped. There's a very very good chance that the database is completely gone and unrecoverable. I've tried contacting Laban about our own backups as he tended to make regular ones. The latest backup I have is from December (I swear I made one about a month ago... but for the life of me I can't find it).

It will still be a while until the MySQL server is restored. They have sent out some harddrives for recovery (apparantly costing $500/drive) so if we're lucky our spam-board retardedness won't be lost. =[

I'll continue to make posts here as new developments arise. P.S. blame Kupo

Chat Server Relocation

Our chat server as of late has been extremely unstable. We've moved to netstable's server in #vgamp and updated the java client.

Live Radio Show! Quarter-Circle-Forward!

A long time running show, Quarter Circle Forward (http://www.qcf.ca) plays on VGAmp! This two hour live show essentially consists of a bunch of guys ranting and raving and mostly just having a good time discussing issues of today, video game nostalgia, and pretty much anything else that pops into their heads. It's interactive with the IRC chat and "call-ins" using Skype. The show airs every Tuesday at 8pm PST.

VGamp opens max quality 128kb/s stereo stream!

Well now we got a full quality stereo stream running! It's at http://vgm128.lan2k.org:8004! We're removing the 96k stream and putting its bandwidth to the 128 stream. Listen in!

Coming Soon: Dear VGimp

Everyone knows what "Dear Abby" is right? Well, if you don't, it involves people writing to some know-it-all old lady in a newspaper asking for advice. We're going to do the same thing here... only by "know-it-all old lady" we mean "kick ass green FF6 imp sporting an NES blaster" (see logo) I mean comon... who better to ask for advice than some nostalgic psycho that uses an oldschool blaster? So while I'm setting this up, please send your question or your story asking for advice to the VGimp using our fast and easy interface. We're hoping this will be yet another entertaining and humourous addition to VGamp, so ask FUN questions :D
